I love a French pharmacy. I can spend hours in one snapping up beauty products that not only work but don’t break the bank. My favorite brand that is delightfully commonplace in chemists there is probably Caudalie. However, a little bit of French pharmacy joy has worked its way over to us here in Singapore…and for the princely sum of $15.

I wrote about This Works Sleep Spray a few months back, but I am thrilled to say I think I have found something better. Something costing a fraction of the price and stocked on the shelves of a local pharmacy near you.
Kwan Loong.
It’s certainly not new, they’ve been making this stuff for over 70 years, but it IS clever. Dab a little on to your pillowcase – my Sleep Spray had run out – and you literally seem to pass out, feeling refreshed and well rested the following day.
I raved about it to such an extent that it propted H to ask me what it contains. Shock, horror when I realized what was in it (rather late in the day as I’d been sprinkling it on my pillow with abandon for about two weeks). CHLOROFORM!

They are called drinkwel. I hate that it’s missing the final ‘l’ and doesn’t start with a proper capital letter, but assuming you can get over all that, you will learn that these pills have been concocted by two Berkeley graduates alongside a doctor and a naturopath: I love the idea of students from a world renowned university applying themselves to do good. In this case, coming up with a hangover cure that actually works. A service to humanity.

I hate smug, post-holiday write ups so I promise the premise of this is not to bang on about my recent-ish skiing holiday. In truth, there is not much to show off about: I haven’t skiied for almost a decade and the style of skis that I was once really rather good on in my teenage years are now no longer (it’s all about carver skis these days).
But that wasn’t enough to stop me trying to wear some vaguely good gear that would at least make me look the part. Here’s where it went wrong:

If you are trying to come up with a clever business idea, I’m both pleased and sorry to say that another one has just got away from you. Pleased because the rather brilliantly named Geek Team really does fill a gap in the market. As their name more or less implies, they are a mobile IT helpdesk who know all there is to know about computers. They bring the unofficial ‘Apple genius bar’ to you and your unwieldy desktop, or laptop too for that matter (they are also equally competent with non-Apple products I am told).
