Dehydrated veg and exploding suitcases

I’ve just arrived in Blighty for the Christmas hols. The last week or so was a blur of packing, provisions and purchases.

The Provisions Bit: We are good friends with our immediate neighbours who are in possession of a strange thing called a dehydrator. It’s basically a sort of giant heater (rather like a hairdryer) that dries out almost any type of fruit that you put inside it to a crisp crunch.

I love burning scented candles. I love their flickering light; their smell. I use them when I bathe, I have one by my bed and my biggest luxury of all – I like one burning when I’m writing.

The thing is, they are usually so darned expensive out here in Singapore that I find myself saving them up – and invariably only lighting them now and again which is the worst, most inefficient way to do it. Well, now no more.
