The Writing’s on the Wall

By Friday, 30 August 2013 House & Home, More Dash than Cash

I regularly say things about my kitchen that are less than kind, but let’s look at the bare facts: it has only one power point – helpfully positioned just above the gas hob – it was installed sometime in the 1960s, it’s hot and it’s pretty small.

What it does have going for it though are large, shiny floor-to-ceiling wall tiles.  In white thank goodness.

And these tiles in my un-chic and cluttered kitchen have become something that I love: they are hands down the best place for lists, messages and reminders. Read More

Chic Stash – Secondhand Style Goes Online

**Chic Stash are offering changmoh readers a $15 discount off any $100 purchase between now and the end of September. Just enter the discount code ‘changmohgirl’ when you check out **

I love a spot of eBay shopping. There one problem with living in Singapore is that ebay.com.sg is hardly used by anyone and any eBaying I do is on the UK site (which I usually start doing in earnest a month or two before my darling Ma comes to stay so she can kindly lug it all over for me).

By Monday, 26 August 2013 Fash, More Dash than Cash, My Edits, Online Shopping

I love a spot of online shopping.  I miss that here in Singapore, online boutiques are still very few and far between. The idea of being able to jump on your computer and order beautiful things at a time when most shops are closed and you’re in your pajamas may not be your style, but I have to confess than on some nights I can think of nothing nicer.

Pilates for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

For the avoidance of doubt, no, that image directly above is not me. The main problem with doing daily pilates classes – apart from struggling with most of the poses – is that I spend most of my time panicking that I’ve forgotten to shave my armpits. It’s something I generally do do every morning, but it’s not often that I am tested on it to this extent.

The other problem is that what looks extremely easy to do, is as actually bloody tricky. Read More

The Merits of…um…Astro Turf

By Tuesday, 20 August 2013 Doggy Stuff, House & Home

My garden has two major drawbacks. Firstly, a good part of it is taken up by a steep grassy slope, perfect for sledging if only it snowed here (when global warming truly takes its grip though, we’ll be ready!) and secondly, it has a stretch of very ugly parking slabs right next to the front door.

I have tried – lamely – to convince people they’re really grass by painting them green, Hong Kong ‘park’ style, but let’s face it, I’m not fooling anyone (see pic above). Read More
