I’ve blogged about these guys before and I while I loved their concept of selling semi-precious stones at prices cheaper than most decent costume jewellery (to give you an idea, a pair of classic rose quartz earring set in Sterling silver costs just $50/£25) I had a real issue with how they sold their gear.
To keep prices keen there was, understandably, no shop. Instead they either sold at fairs or on Facebook. I rarely make it to the expat fairs – I might do one at Christmas – so Facebook was my only real option: you had to write ‘sold’ in the comments section underneath a picture if you liked what you saw and wanted it – i.e. everyone you were friends with on Facebook could see what you were up to, if they could be bothered.
I am not one of those disingenuous people who desperately want to pass their silver set rose quartz earring off as costing more than I paid for them, but equally I don’t want to advertise to every Tom, Dick & Harry (must do a Facebook clearout) that they were ridiculously good value either.
Why am I telling you this? Because, joy of joys, Lustre – as of today – has its very own online store.
