Here’s my round up of things I’ve taken note of this month.
Any die hard char kway teow fans out there? The king of char kway teow, aka hawker Guan Kee at Ghim Moh market, is closing his stall at the end of this month and will not be moving to the temporary market. He hopes to be back once the refurb is complete – which means an 18 month hiatus! Go now before it’s too late…
#01-12 Ghim Moh Food Centre, 9.30am to 2.30pm. Closed Mon and Fri.
The Two Pigs Trunk Show is happening on 26th and 27th of this month. I wrote about my super talented and lovely friend Angel Carew-Jones (above) two years ago when she hosted a sell-out show in her home. This time Two Pigs will be at Chopsuey in Martin Road (NOT Dempsey) where I will be for at least some of the morning this Friday 26th September to both buy and support. Come and introduce yourself to me (and her). I’ve previewed her collection and these – plus a few others – are on my hit list. I’ll race you there
Other than her annual trunk shows, she only makes her pieces by appointment.
Two Pigs Trunk Show dates are 26th September 10am-5pm at Chopsuey Café, 38 Martin Road and on 27th September 10am-5pm at #02-08, 5 Purvis Street.
The Manhattan Bar at the Regent Hotel on Cuscaden Road is the embodiment of art deco fabulousness. They also have a room off to the side which can cope with about 40 pax, max – a very good private party venue. I’ve been here on numerous occasions over the last few weeks and it’s become a bit of a fave.
Every fancy designing your own bikini? I do, all the time; I either hate the bottoms and love the top, or visa versa. Well, with the guys over at Kini, you are the boss; choose from five different tops and bottoms in whatever sizes you want them, (my bottom is larger than my top, sadly, so I’m thrilled with this pick ‘n’ mix option) make it rouched, fold-over, with a frill, halter necked – whatever. Choose your colour or pattern (I love their high-waisters in a vertical navy and white stripe for the front panel with the sides in a flattering opposite stripe) and off you go.
Love char kway teow! cant believe he will be closed for 18 months, heading there this week then!
Love all your posts! xx
