Despite my Scottish roots, I don’t own any tartan. Our family tartan happens to have an orange streak running through it and always used to remind me slightly of sick (although looking back on it, that was probably the combination of having to wear it to lunch with Great Aunt Muriel and taking a long twisty car journey in order to do so).
What I mean is it was never something I instantly wanted to make into a pair of trousers and wear with pride (sorry Pa).
Anyway, I have since decided that there’s a time and a place for all things and was unduly thrilled to find this (above) tartan chair cover lurking in the depths of Ikea just the other day.
My trusty old Henriksdal chair has had a new lease of life and, rather pleasingly, the once incongruous antlers hanging above it now make it all look very ‘hunting lodge’
Great fun and wildly out of context in the tropics…just how I like it.
(Please excuse hideous and deeply distressing eye-level plug sockets)
Henriksdal rutna multicolour chair cover costs $35 from Ikea.
