If I had been waiting for a time to reveal my face to you, (I haven’t; I was actually thinking I might never get around to it) the time has undeniably arrived.
Annie Leibovitz was in town last week (above) to launch her second Singapore exhibition, this time at a lovely little gallery tucked away in the art hotspot that is Gillman Barracks…and she and I snapped a selfie together. Correction, she actually took it!
So, without further ado, here’s my selfie with Annie Leibovitz by Annie Leibovitz:
Yours truly is on the right. I can assure you that I am less blur (sotong) in person.
The exhibition is running at Sundaram Tagore Gallery, Block 5 Gillman Barracks and features all of Annie’s – first name terms now, natch – iconic photographs as well as some of her newer work.
Just under forty large-scale prints showcase her most enduring images including Lennon and Yoko (did you know that Lennon died five hours after she took this picture?)
Meryl Streep, Andy Warhol, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Yo-Yo Ma, Carl Lewis, the Dalai Lama, Queen Elizabeth II and many more besides.
Her favorite piece in the whole exhibition? Virginia Woolf’s desk:
The exhibition at Sundaram Tagore Gallery is running concurrently with Annie Leibovitz A Photographer’s Life 1990-2005, on view until October 19 at the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands.
Her exhibition at Sundaram Tagore runs until 12 October.
LOVE the pic!!! 🙂
Ha! Not too many can say they have a shot of themselves taken by Annie Leibovitz!
Wow what a great experience. Wish the exhibition would come to London
