I couldn’t bring myself to pay Singapore prices for my FitFlops, so after much a-do, ordered them for about $80 from the UK and got my next visitor to kindly carry them over. So after a relative amount of effort on my part, I was really irritated when the suede top of this decidedly over priced flipflop stretched enormously and made them unwearable.
My feet rattled around in them and it was as if the shoes had grown overnight. I went to endless cobblers to try to get them to shorten the ‘stem’ part of the flipflop (that goes between your toes) so that they would fit me again but everyone refused, saying it was too much work, they didn’t have the right machine to re-stitch it etc, etc.
Everyone that is, except the wonderful Shukey in Far East Plaza who did a sterling job at cutting 3/4 of an inch out of each shoe, making them beautifully comfortable and, hurray, wearable again.
As you can see from the picture, the stitching is almost invisible and can’t be felt as it’s at the top of the piece of suede that fits between your toes – all according to plan. An almost new pair of shoes made wearable again for the oh-so-worth it price of $18.
