I love the idea of an outsized watch strapped unapologetically to an arm it doesn’t look like it belongs on. Lady-like, dainty watches are all well and good if you’re having tea at the Ritz, but a boyfriend watch wins easy extra style points and works wonders for a bit of instant edge.
Perfect too if you’re a bit of a groomie and look very ‘done’ / aunty a lot of the time. I don’t think I look like an aunty…and my look is more undone that done (I discovered the other day whilst walking through ION that the zip on my shorts was wide open…and had been all day) but I do love this watch:
It looks a bit like something from Prada but it’s actually a much more reasonably priced Alessi number. As such, it’ll be coming with me on my trip to Bali tomorrow, where I will no doubt plunge it unthinkingly in to sea water and then have to throw it away.
Yes, I am travelling with the lovely MF who has come all this way just to see me…no, no, her trip has nothing at all to do with seriously inclement English weather that I will fortunately be able to experience first hand on Tuesday next week.
We’re staying in Seminyak where we will be in a villa-based hotel costing just SGD$200 a night for the whole villa. Sounds a bit too good to be true, doesn’t it? That’s just what I am thinking…having bravely and insistently booked it all months ago; I shall let you know if it’s a raging success or ghastly, clock-watching failure.
