Food: Luke’s Oyster Bar

By Changmoh • Monday, 11 June 2012 • Food & Drink, Restaurant Reviews

Hidden away just off Club Street we came here for the first time on Thursday night for a delicious and really rather virtuous dinner (heavily discounting the pudding and wine).

An incredible choice of oysters who had all flown miles to be at the party (really makes you feel rather bad when you properly consider the air miles they have accrued between them that they will never get to redeem) followed by very simply cooked John Dory and asparagus.

The lack of carbs consumed so far was more than made up for in the pudding stakes, which was so good it was actually worth the calories: warm chocolate chip cookies served with stout milkshake.  Aptly named in every sense, the milkshake contained a good slug of Guinness and was beautifully creamy with a subtle kick at the end.

A real treat not to have had to pick up the bill at the end (it was a work dinner), as I have an inkling it was most probably eye watering.

    The Chinese Angmoh
Why the strange name? Changmoh is an amalgamation of the words Chinese & 'Angmoh' (local speak for Caucasian should you be reading this in a country other than SG) // I'm an English girl living in Singapore and love the local way of life so much that I actually think I’m half Chinese. Maybe even three-quarters // Freelancer writer, author and editor ... you read it here first.
