A slightly odd post considering I was delivered this magazine to my door in Asia and I am now in rural France…which makes fashion seem somewhat meaningless as I trudge though muddy fields with abandon, having swapped heels for wellies (with a modicum of relief – I can at least walk in wellies).

Anyway I wanted to post about this brave, new fash mag recently launched by netaporter that had Vogue in a panic because…

A/ it had Vogue in a panic (pretty impressive*) and

B/ I love a  physical magazine that doesn’t cost the earth. To buy UK Vogue – or US Vogue for that matter – in Singapore costs a small fortune. I can’t bring myself to do it. I know I could get it online for much less but to really enjoy a magazine I still need real, physical pages. I also love to rip things out – something I have done since I was 14 when I decorated my room at school with pages from Vogue, Tatler and Harpers (my mother’s taste in magazines is something I have inherited).

Because the netaporter net (clumsy, but you know what I mean) is  so far reaching, anyone in Asia who wants to subscribe to Porter pays no more than they would if they were based in Europe.

Ironically I actually love the digital version of the mag as it’s utterly shoppable, with masses of links to sites that sell whatever it is that caught your eye. Admittedly not desperately helpful for my Zara-like budget. But you get the idea.

*The scoop: When I was in London I met up with a great girlfriend who also happens to be a fashion ed…she told me she’d heard on good authority that Vogue issued ultimatums to anyone thinking about working at Porter, threatening that if they took a job there they would never be offered or allowed a job at Vogue. Ever. A bit harsh but really rather a compliment to Porter.
