Bounce Your Way to Fitness

By Changmoh • Tuesday, 8 April 2014 • Health & Fitness

I hate exercising until the point of sweating. This is unfortunate as the only time you know for sure that exercise has done you any good whatsoever, is when you are sweating profusely.

I think I have, however, discovered a way around it.

We found ourselves at Amped on Saturday afternoon, the only trampolining centre in Sing. I haven’t set foot on a trampoline since I was about 12 and there is something hugely fun about it:

Amped Jurong

They are suprisingly bouncy –  you forget how much it feels like flying – and I couldn’t stop smiling for three whole minutes. After then the novelty did wear off but not until I’d got a very decent sweat up.

Great exercise but really rather fun, all at the same time; it doesn’t happen often. I loved it so much I’m going to try to make it here weekly. They are open until 11pm on some nights.

Amped has two locations at opposite ends of the island: Katong and Jurong. The Jurong branch wasn’t too far from where I am in Mount Sinai and took about ten minutes to drive there. With an enormously high ceiling that’s vented, as well as having low level air con, it’s not just a big sweaty room that stinks, so don’t worry.

You need to pay and register online as they are very strict on the number of people allowed in at any one time. There’s a rather basic area you can sit and watch if you’re not a bouncer. Slots are for one hour and you must remove watches and bracelets before you go on – it doesn’t seem to say this on their website – so make sure you leave them at home. To view the Amped site and to book (and bounce), click here.

Please God, let there be somewhere children are not allowed in Singapore; this blog is one of them.  That said, this is a very good place to bring small people and they allow all ages, as long as accompanied by an adult.

    The Chinese Angmoh
Why the strange name? Changmoh is an amalgamation of the words Chinese & 'Angmoh' (local speak for Caucasian should you be reading this in a country other than SG) // I'm an English girl living in Singapore and love the local way of life so much that I actually think I’m half Chinese. Maybe even three-quarters // Freelancer writer, author and editor ... you read it here first.
