I found out about this place – My Salon – through a Harley-Davidson-riding guy I met at an ex-ambassador to Singapore’s Christmas party. Deliciously random and unlikely…just how I like it.

My Salon is a weird and wonderful haven on Horne Road, opposite the ICA building, that I never go often enough, but when I do go, I love it.

Not wildly convenient for me to get to from where I live (Mount Sinai) but not too difficult either, we went there this Sunday for a hangover reviver head massage and it was heavenly.

Open at 11am and closed by 8pm daily, they will, for the princely sum of $40 for an hour’s session, massage your head until it’s about to fall off, wash your hair, (and dry it if you’d rather that than more massage; I never bother with a blow and just leave with it looking wet and bedraggled…this is Horne Road, not Orchard), massage your face, bad, neck and shoulders without you having to move an inch from the chair you are sitting in.

It’s a salon for both men and women…although…here’s the weird bit…I am always the only women there (apart from the girls who work here obviously). Very male dominated, it does slightly feel like they might offer extra services, but I’ve checked – there are no back rooms – and they definitely don’t/can’t/haven’t so far.

The perfect beauty pampering place to go to with men, where – for once – there are more of them than us!
